5KG is a sculptural meditation on weight, gesture, and meaning.
Carved from a single block of stone, one simple cut disrupts its weight and hints at movement—without prescribing purpose. This objet d’art resists classification, inviting each viewer to consider how form shapes thought. First revealed during Art Basel 2019, it has been evolving ever since.

Tobias Brunner is a Swiss-born artist and classically trained designer whose work explores the space between the material and immaterial—between what we build and what we believe. After studying at the renowned ECAL in Lausanne and working in global metropolises such as New York, Paris, and Hong Kong, he returned to his hometown of Zurich to establish his practice, which focuses on site-specific installations, events, and collectible editions.  

Together with his partner in life and work, Brunner co-founded edition-b, a label rooted in relationships and collaboration. Edition-b creates limited-edition pieces in close partnership with manufacturers around the globe, emphasizing the human connections behind every object.

Brunner also collaborates with his father, an engineer, through Bureau Brunner, a family office dedicated to realizing the seemingly impossible. This partnership blends artistic vision and technical expertise to push the boundaries of what can be made.
